At myFotobox we often get emails and phone calls from happy brides, and each and every time(as vain as this sounds
The meeting
Kellie first spotted Darren at a bar in Darling Harbour about eight years ago. “I remember thinking ‘wow, what a cutie with dimples,’ but I was too shy to approach him, I went home thinking ‘what if?’” says Kellie. Six months later she saw him again and he went up to speak with her but she had a boyfriend. “Third time lucky one year later after I first saw him, we went on our first date and we have been together since,” she says. “I met the man of my dreams and someone who is willing to love me no matter what.”
The proposal
When Kellie arrived back from a holiday to Vietnam with her parents, Darren picked her up and said: “let’s go shopping for your wedding shoes.”
“He had a ring, I screamed “Are u serious?” and punched him in the arm,” says Kellie. “I remember being on a natural high for weeks, going back to work was extremely hard.”
The wedding day
The wedding was held over two days as Kellie has Vietnamese background. Darren is Fijian. The first day was the traditional Vietnamese tea ceremony and the following, the civil ceremony and reception. They had a total of 460 guests who came from Canada, Fiji, New Zealand and all over Australia. They were trying to create a mood of love – using red flowers and candles to set the scene. ” Every part of the wedding was a highlight, our family and relatives blessing our marriage at the tea ceremony, to walking down the aisle, our first dance as husband and wife, to cutting the cake – it was an amazing event,” she says.
The dress
Kellie wore a strapless gown with a sweetheart neckline. The bodice was havily embroidered with diamante detailing. It came from the Bridal Factory Outlet in Wetherill Park. She made her own veil.
The cake
The cake had three tiers – white chocolate and coconut, cookies and cream and chocolate mud cake. It was decorated with red ribbon and roses. It came fromĀ Love Cakes in Bexley.
The photography
The photos were taken by myfotobox.
The honeymoon
They didn’t go on a honeymoon as they are trying to save for a house.
